Mike Zambidis was better in all 3 rounds against the ex Champion of K-1, Albert Kraus. The Dutch was mainly on defense and only managed a couple of kicks. One of those kicks determined the result of the fight.
The Greek champion started really well the first 2 rounds, whipping up enthusiasm in the stadium since he was clearly better that his Dutch opponent. On the 3rd round, it seemed that Zambidis would be the winner, despite a kick from Kraus during the 1st round that had caused a cut on Mike’s eyebrow. Around 20” before the end of the 3rd round, the referee stopped the fight in order Zambidis to have his face cleaned from bleeding. Right after the signal to restart the fight, Mike made the final attack, punching and kicking his opponent with fury and determination.
The bell rung and one judge declared Mike as the winner, something that seemed to be the obvious decision, while the other judges decided the fight to go on EXTRA ROUND.
The doctors examined the Greek Champion and did not allowed him to continue the fight, in which he should have been the winner at the first place, because of the bleeding. Albert Kraus was announced as winner in the ring and Mike Zambidis the winner on the mind and the conscience of all the fans who watched the game.
It was an unfair decision that surprised experts and pure fans who watched the fight.
