Great win, apotheosis and…new challenges for Iron Mike !!!

Mike Zambidis added another great victory on his impressive record, this time against Dzhabar Askerov, at Melbourne, for the "War of the Worlds", after 5 very exciting rounds.

In a stadium that the majority of the attendees was Greek, Iron Mike started very aggressively and with passion and managed to get on the driving position. The first round was only Zambidis in the ring, since Askerov was trying to defend against the Greek Champion. The 2nd and the 3rd round continued in almost the same way, with the crowd going mad from the energy and the attacking skills of Iron Mike. The 23 years old Askerov, got into the fight in the last two rounds.

The 5th and final round looked like a real battle, since the victory would clearly go to Zambidis unless he got knocked out. Thus, Askerov tried to attack as hard as he could, leaving at the same time many open spaces for Iron Mike to bomb away! It was a true war, with both fighters looking like gladiators in the arena, giving a spectacular show to the crowd of Melbourne.

The last ring of the bell, found Zambidis a clear winner on points and Askerov, the rising K-1 star, asking for a re-match in the future. Iron Mike did not reject the challenge, but he put as first priority the well anticipated rematch with John Wayne Parr, the Australian Champion, that will straight things out between them!

Zambidis, during his stay in Melbourne, did not stop signing autographs and taking photos with fans of both sexes and of all ages and he was accompanied by Vangelis Apostolou (assistant of the coach George Mallios), by his gymnast Alexandros Papadionisiou, and his Manager Tonia Fouseki, who all had their little part in this great win!

The Greek Champion and his team arrived yesterday night in Greece, with the trophy at their hands and they were cheered by numerous of fans that were gathered at the airport waiting for their arrival.

Iron Mike stated: "I would like to say a warm 'thank you' to the thousand fans that were in my side, with their actual presence inside the stadium and with their mind, and to my team that prepared me and travelled with me, for the essential support i had for the victory. It was a tough and spectacular fight. I was more aggressive and i had more clean and 'real' points. I am glad that the training programs that I followed, worked on the maximum in order to win."
